My TRX4's ESC died in less than a week after receiving it, and the steering servo died literally 45 seconds after powering it on for the first time after installing the replacement ESC. I installed the stronger Traxxas servoe and a BEC, no problems with either since.
My X-Maxx is an absolute tank, taken the worst beatings you can imagine, and other than the body that is destroyed, everything, including the driveshaft, still runs perfectly. I know with their "Ultimate" edition X-Maxx, they replaced a bunch of plastic parts with aluminum, I honestly do not know if that is better or not. As Talbot is so fond of exclaiming, the plastic is flexible, metal is not and something is going to give, only thing that makes sense. If you've seen some of the tumbles this thing has taken, it just blows my mind.
